Artist Statement
I like making moments. Whether that’s in creating the centerpiece you overlook while meeting up at your friend’s apartment, or actually creating an entire fantasy scene; I love creating something meant to be interacted with. I think life is stressful enough on its own and if I have a talent that can brighten any part of it, it is worth pursuing.
I make art to bring life to what I feel (safe, loved, tired, detached, neglected, hungry). It is grounding. It’s a way to cement realities that get lost when I start dissociating and give faces and voices to the feelings. I love to see people get effected by what I make; whether that’s getting excited about it, empathizing with it, questioning it, or just enjoying it. A lot of what I make is practical. It’s a vase, it’s a cup, it’s very small friends meeting for a meal. It’s about checking on yourself and making sure you’re letting yourself take time to live and enjoy your life, at least every so often.
